IT ALL STARTED ONE FATEFUL AFTERNOON, IN A SOUTH LOUISIANA BEDROOM, TEN YEARS AGO…

When I learned the power of storytelling first-hand. A lifelong appreciation for the arts kept me curious about following the artists’ path throughout high school. This vision was cultivated by my mother, who I shared countless hours of books and movies and TV with, but because of where we grew up, it felt out of reach. Unrealistic. Once I got into my early twenties, I decided to go all in on being a filmmaker, won over by years of consuming Scorsese, Coppola, Spike Lee, and of course the support of my mother.

Soon after, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. On the eve of my sister’s wedding.

The show must go on, as they say. And the only way she could still experience the wedding of her daughter, was through a video. I had a camera that I barely knew how to operate, plus some free editing software. So I did the best I could to shoot a decent wedding video, the first real project I ever took on, with high stakes.

I worked tirelessly, and when it was done, we “premiered” the video in the back room of our trailer where my mother was bedridden, to an audience of family and friends. The effect was magical, an outpouring of emotion for moments my mother desperately wanted to be in person to see, but through the power of story, was still able to experience, in a way.

She passed away soon after, and I dedicated my life to telling powerful stories that shape hearts and minds, having experienced in the most visceral way their power.
